Transparency

Patient Information
& Consent

Before we work together, I want to be clear about how Vitl works and what happens with your information. You deserve to know.

What Vitl is — and isn't

Vitl is a patient advocacy and document service, not a clinical provider. I am not a doctor, nurse, or licensed clinician. The documents I help you build are communication tools. They do not constitute a clinical diagnosis, treatment plan, or medical advice. They exist so your story travels more clearly into your next provider relationship.

How your information is used

Everything you share with me — in your intake form, on our call, and in any records or documents you send — is used for one purpose: building your documents. I do not sell it. I do not share it with third parties. I do not use it for research. It belongs to you.

AI is part of how I work

I want to be transparent about this. I use Claude (made by Anthropic) to help me draft, structure, and refine your documents. Your health information is processed through that tool as part of document production. Anthropic's standard privacy policy applies to information processed through Claude. Vitl does not currently hold a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Anthropic.

I also use Otter to transcribe our intake call so I can work from an accurate record of your history, rather than from memory or handwritten notes. That transcript is used only for document production and is not shared with any third party.

What "patient-owned" means

Your documents belong to you — not to Vitl, not to any provider, not to any platform. Once they are delivered, you decide where they go, who sees them, and when they are updated. I hold no claim to your story.

How Vitl relates to HIPAA

Vitl is a Personal Health Record (PHR) vendor, not a covered entity under HIPAA. This means HIPAA's rules do not apply to Vitl in the way they apply to your doctor's office or insurance company. Your information is protected by the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule and applicable state law, and I take that responsibility seriously. I am telling you this so you can make a fully informed decision about sharing your health history with me.
